- "Let the children be free"
- A challenge in our school is balancing innovative teachers that are willing take their personal energy to drive forward with technology into the unknown, but do not have the logistical, foundational support and guidance that could lead to greater success and sustainable experiences for students.
- A repair café speaker http://repaircafetoronto.ca/
- Africa needs to be carried along in all of these processes and we should integrate more Africans on all of our platforms and projects.
- As a teacher sometimes it is overwhelming the quantity of new IT apps , research and changes taking place. If that's how I feel sometimes then how are our students feeling?
- As above. I am still learning and would to love how to use/ implement more ideas. I am not a teacher - but a librarian, so I have to be careful, where the 'line' is.
- Be sure to address accessibility for those who have visual and hearing disabilities.
- Best of luck! These conferences are great when I can get to them. The recordings are a great help.
- Big frustration is the lack of technology preparation that is part of the basic pre-service education of US teachers, and the lack of technology application in the education leadership (administration preparation) programs for principals and other central level administrators. But to change US education requires getting to policy makers as well as the folks in schools and classrooms. It also means, IMHO providing a bigger vision for education. Most folks you'll be talking with have been successful in the current model(s) and getting them to do more than tinker with the the current model(s) is a very difficult task.
- Concern that although schools are TRYING to bring a modern education to kids, they end up with mediocrity - they turn the rich examples of schools where processes and practices are developed with agency into checklists.
- Congratulations for many great conferences! I learned a lot. Thank You! Congratulations for initiative!
- Continue the work
- Create a platform to teach the Best for the global people without any biasedness for the advancement of the mankind.
- Developing a global learning conference is powerful. It allows us to learn with you from everywhere and interact with others around the world. Hopefully it will be a 24 hour conference.
- Education isn't in the hands of educators and as long as this is the case, we must be open to new technology and implementing it to enhance the learning experience.
- Enjoy learning
- Equity, distribution and access are huge issues for effective use of technology. How are we going to meet the needs of the future when this serious inequity exists?
- Fact from fiction online
- Faculty should not be taking on information literacy instruction, they should partner with library professionals. In the best case scenario, the library would be another classroom (officially and across the board), offering for-credit courses (technical electives). Student learning outcomes do improve when this is handled consistently.
- Flipped classroom as well.
- For the relevance in learning in the world today, technology should be the compass to navigate to the end means of education because of its essentiality on humanity.
- Global Citizenship
- Go ahead, I am very much looking forward to see this live! All the best from Kiel. Kai
- Good luck
- Good luck, Steve!
- Good luck!
- Great community and thank you for helping me to learn. I am able to share my online experiences whenever you want to.
- great idea, will share!
- Great idea! -
- great questions and overview... May I use some of these ideas/questions in my classes?
- Helping teachers to "know what they don't know" is key as the worlds of education and technology collide and become one force.
- Hooray for what you are doing.
- How about doing a virtual conference design workshop in addition to this survey? Consider how ETMOOC was designed - with a group of "conspirators" which ed to a richer experience.
- How can we utilize technology to make better students, citizens and ultimately, employees?
- how do we make the global south catch up on these trends
- I am enthusiastic about your proposal and look forward to hearing from you soon.
- I am not seeing the real pedagogical shift happening across schools and higher education that needs to happen. Teachers still do not see themselves as learners, the learning environment is not 'flat', and learners are being held back. As I often say, we have the technology, we have the pedagogies, it's time to connect with the learning.
- I applaud your efforts and I hope you will create a wonderful experience for all participants and presenters.
- I appreciate your dedication to innovation and excellence manifested over the years.
- I believe teacher education needs to change drastically to continue to show teachers how to truly integrate technology. Less focus can be on content area, and more on developing essential questions, teaching students to problem solve, and develop team working skills.
- I believe that technology prepares out students for the real world experiences they will have. Isn't that what we are here for? I believe the more opportunities we can afford our learners, the more they will get out of each learning day. Our job is not about us, it is about the students and what is best for the students. I am in education to make a difference and I feel that technology is a critical piece for me and the students.
- I congratulate you on this initiative🤓
- I do not work in a school environment, but I have children in my life and I've seen technology sometimes make their schoolwork much more difficult and frustrating than it has to be. Their teachers require iPads in fourth grade just because they think that's the thing to do, but then they give assignments that would be better accomplished with a pencil and an index card, and they don't always give basic instruction like how to back up files. Children can -- and do -- end up in tears. When technology is used inappropriately, by teachers who aren't trained, everyone gets frustrated. Let's be clear-eyed about this: We don't just want shiny new objects. We want ways to enhance learning.
- I do think technologie can boost the way we teach and the way we learn.
- I encourage this kind of survey. It is benefit!
- I have not seen Montessori mentioned in any of your emails or conference plans. Montessori, simply put, is helping the student to match their developmental/learning level with self-chosen curricular content (to know themselves and then act in ways that constructs character)
- I just know how important technology (devices/internet) is to my students and their future. I want to be able to give them the best tools, learning resources, and education that I can give them. I am always looking for ways and opportunities to do just that.
- I just wanted to come back and answer the question above on how technology has impacted my learning. Hope this is ok. Anne
- I know that anything Steve Hargadon puts together will be worthwhile and informative! Looking forward to this next adventure.
- I love that you elicit feedback to guide conference planning. Survey feedback is one of the most powerful forms of data, yet one of the most underutilized. Way to go! :-)
- I love the possibilities and opportunities that a conference such as this can offer a huge range of people globally. I've been involved with the Global Education community for years, although a major illness that decided to rear its head again has interrupted this a couple of times. The opportunity to be involved again would be fantastic.
- I love your global PD effort. Thanks for staying with this. It is the real definition of creating a meaningful PLC.
- I often get this feeling that we need to give children their childhood's back and technology needs to be something that is not present in our lives at certain times. I am afraid students don't know when to put it away!
- I teach 9th Grade Pre-AP Biology and have a completely digital and paperless classroom.
- I think I over-use the word obviously. https://vimeo.com/30515418
- I think that technology is too often presented as "the" solution for school problems. I think it is just one, a fantastic one, but which has to be well used and that technology itself cannot replace true pedagogy. It's just a new exceptional tool.
- I think the idea of this conference is great. There is a lot happening but it is hard for teachers to keep up. I was speaking with a colleague this morning about Virtual Reality. This is a good example of a rapidly advancing technology that will have an impact on education. Within 5 years I imagine that VR will be present everywhere. The ultimate would be for students to construct their own learning by building a VR presentation. I imagine it may happen outside of school long before it begins happening in school.
- I think this conference is a great idea - an idea for which the time is ripe.
- I think this is a great idea. I actually thought it was already international judging by the audience during some of the Conferences I was able to attend. But looking forward to what's new or different. Good luck with this great idea.
- I think we need to explore the role of technology as a self-reflective tool. True learning needs time to think, reflect, to turn things over this way and that in our minds. Many educators use technology to connect with others and to broaden networks, but an equally important use of the computer can be as a way to explore our own thoughts. We can show our students how to wrestle with ideas and concepts in a digital way. We can model how we can come to deeper understandings but without getting 500,000 likes on FB. Turn the tech on its head and use it for better introspection.
- I would be glad to present.
- I would like to have some hands-on pre-conference workshops
- I would love to find a lady, a girl who can read in voice, one on one, by skype or second life, around 2:00 AM PDT. From there we can start more and more...
- I would love to help with this endeavor.
- I'd like to help underdeveloped areas with technology, give more teachers and talented students opportunities, and let the world see their brilliant work.
- I'm going crazy with our learning management system which only supports and encourages traditional ways of teaching and learning. Grading is getting in the way of learning. We are a 1:1 district and should be able to be far more flexible in communicating with families about the potential of learning.
- I'm keenly interested in personalized and blended learning for k12
- If I am given a chance to attend the session I will elaborate and explain to my audience the importance of technology.
- In Italy we are starting with some difficulties
- It also enhances globalism by sharing knowledge and technology.
- It is time for change in education. Yet, "we can't solve the problem from the same thinking that got us here' (Einstein?)
- It is time to move the role of technology in education from marketing to empowerment
- It might be nice to have topics at different user levels--basic, intermediate, advanced; most end up being at basic level and while I might get a little, I don't feel I get as much as when the speaker adjusts based on knowing the audience is already familiar with a topic/ tech tool.
- It would be pleasant to make the forum less likely as an ad for Technocrats or tech nerds but make it simpler so that you can attract a larger audience.
- Its a good idea to learn more ways of use of technology in teaching
- Just as there is an enormous gap between those that have and those that have not, there is an enormous gap between the opportunity finish secondary education (even with technology) beyond the arbitrarily assigned life-course ages.
- Learn to fail successfully
- Let me know when the conference is organised please.
- Let's see what you've got
- Look for new technology and format through which to hold more regional or single topic online conferences.
- look up MirandaNet if you don't know of it already
- Looking forward to this event!
- Looking forward to your online conference.
- Lots of them on this blog http://developingprofessionalstaff-mpls.blogspot.com/
- Make it up to the moment, and dwelling on future possibilities not just in our country but in others like Nepal. I will be working on those possibilities soon.
- Make sure the handouts are good and try to incorporate libraries as much as schools!
- Maker education is part of this too!
- Many say " diversity is good " . But I say too much diversity does not take you anywhere . No decision is made . Look up USA K12 broke down to 11.000 school districts .
- Maybe we should explore concepts like global digital consciousness and Twitter democracy (to supplement representative democracy). I am very interested in the junction of brain research with technology and learning.
- MIT's team of the Lifelong sand box and learning creative learning is all on you tube . Mitch Resnick or the co worker, I forget name who does the Scratch community would be wonderful for your conference.
- More power to you for organising this online conference.

- Remember to use case stories.... I have experiences in making partnerships between Denmark (Europe) and Kenya (Africa) within schools and educational institutions. Some of the criteria is: Long terme perspective. Use Technology as a learning tool. Make globale partnerships through global learning. Use the whole school approach. Establish co-learning in all subjects.
- Research on training on Tools, LMS and delivery platforms (mobiles, tablets, ipads) could be rigourous in a way that can provide the desired results should be focused upon.
- Salman Khan would be a great speaker as well.
- See above. I have lots of thoughts about this and would be delighted to speak.
- See my responses in the previous form.
- Smart ways to learning with these kind of conference helpful
- So happy you're still doing conferences and that they're getting bigger.
- Some technology is great as long as all get to use it - no equity can be an issue
- Something specific to maximize usage of subscribed databases by staff and students.
- Sorry to not have time to contribute more. I appreciate your efforts and will watch for this event.
- sounds like a wonderful idea and I am sure with you in charge it will be AWESOME!!
- Technology and Learning should reach every corner of the World for better World.
- Technology belongs in every classroom, for ALL students, special education gifted etc. If your school cannot provide thecnology your school is out of step with our society, in the end the students will pay the price.
- Technology for better tomorrow.
- Technology has moved well beyond having an interactive whiteboard in your classroom, yet to many teachers I speak to, it's still about what a classroom "has" rather than how it makes the classroom run better and smarter. I think we need to inform teachers how we can use technology to do things easier or better than they can do themselves.
- Technology in the classroom should not only bring enhancement of learning but transformation and change in mind sets.
- Technology is a medium to know and explore the world.
- Technology is moving forward so quickly. We need more strategies to keep up with what is being developed, and more ideas on how to help our students keep up. Money (to buy the tech to play with), time, ideas.
- Technology is one tool among many that are designed to, and/or can be used for, helping students learn. Technology, however, does not by itself cause learning. Learning happens because of the brain's reaction to a set of circumstances. As educators, we need to understand the brain first and then design learning with tools that help that particular child's brain learn.
- Technology is very helpful for people who know how to use it to be helpful. Technology is very helpful in learning because it saves our time to find and prepare various learning materials on our computer. At the time when there were no computers, Internet etc. it took me ages to go to the library, search for books and journals, find things of my interest and need, photocopy them, then go home and start to read all gathered resources. Today with Internet and electronic databases I can quickly find all resources I need for my learning and research and I can collaborate with my colleagues researchers electronically. These days I work collaboratively with people from other continents and it would be impossible without technology.
- Technology to be used to initiate virtual collaboration connecting classrooms to share individual classes learning , followed by analysis with the cutural perspective will help in truly reaching the learning outcomes ; thereby global education
- Thank you for all that you and Lucy do!
- THANK YOU for all you do.

- Thanks for all Steve and Lucy do.
- Thanks for all you do for the ed tech world!
- thanks for your energy
- Thanks you Steve for all that you have done throughout these many, many years to inspire us as educators and technologists, and to me personally - You are TOTALLY AWESOME!!!
- Thanks.
- The 21 st century is exciting and is undergoing quantum leaps in technology enabled pedagogy. Let us expand and explore
- The number one problem facing public (K-12) educators worldwide is that they are using technology in order to "tinker around the edges of an 'obsolete' educational system" since they are indeed powerless to effect the sort of wholesale institutional overhaul (from A-Z) that is required in order to make public education a meaningful exercise. Virtual Campus Dormitory Consortium proposes a new and revolutionary approach that is sure to horrify the status quo. You can obtain more details at :: https://virtualcampusdormitory.com
- The trend in education is to modernize thinking and learning using technology. Teachers should be provided with extensive training in the effective use of educational technology so every learner can be a productive individual in society.
- The work you are doing, catalyzing, envisioning, and number-one-make-it-so executing to bring the best tools we have to the crucially important task of educating and empowering our youth to embrace global citizenship can not be adequately appreciated Steve, I hope you will continue doing it for a long long time. with affection and admiration, Jocelyn
- These questions let me revisit the topics that I care. Thank you for the continuing communication.
- Thinking about increasing students' curiosity isn't enough. Technology must empower Learning processes (through inverted classes, tutoring past key-notions, assessing on line) Let us try to be more professional than simply offering them something "modern and nice to watch".
- This could be an exciting idea. I look forward to seeing how it develops.
- To survive the future, any future you need an email list students do not know this they are still lost on facebook.
- Very excited about this project!
- Very excited to see how this will evolve - hope to be part of it! -Nancy White (NancyW1354@gmail.com, @NancyW , http://d20innovation.d20blogs.org/)
- We have three Facebook pages which may offer some more information about our humble efforts. 1) IBERR Global Village School, 2) Global Village School Sang and 3) Akram Khan-Cheema.
- We live in the information age but many teachers are not using technology for the traditional reasons as well as the need to develop professionally. There continue to be administrators who are not supportive and think that use of technology is a distraction........and it can be if no implemented properly.
- we need to be prepare to guide our kids
- We need to learn, unlearn and relearn. The future is now.
- When people present - get into the 21st century and don't just read power points that have 10 bullet points....
- When you think about real innovation in education – the conduit is typically technology. Innovation typically is the result of new tools via technology.
- Would love to partner with you on this Steve. We'd be a good contact for at least the Asia Pacfic region
- Would love to see more on the impact of AR/VR. Thanks Steve!
- You can publish my responses without my name or any other identification. Thank you.
- You guys do an awesome job!
- You should address the UN's 17 sustainable development goals. We need to achieve these by 2030. Technology will help make this possible. Technology should be used in the service of solving problems. http://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sustainable-development-goals/
